YES, we're back in PGN. Before posting here, I wanted to make sure I talked to everyone before posting. :) I love my girls and wanted to share the news personally. :) Now we're not praying for an OUT, we're praying for an APPROVAL. We keep praying for OUTS, and I keep getting them.......with the worded KICKED in front. So, from now on, the word preference is APPROVAL. :) I'm such a nut. I know. Gotta be specific with the fella upstairs. He knows whats in my heart though...... :)

Sent with love...

While hopelessly dreaming of spending Christmas in Guatemala with my baby girl, I also had a back up plan. Let's face it, nothing has gone right for us EVER with this adoption. So here are the items I'm sending down to her....
Jammies for Christmas eve night..

Doll babies... I'll only send one, and keep one at home.
Puzzles!

Madeline's cousins (Kenny, Jaden, and Adrian) have all grown up with this DVD. Even I know all the songs on here!

Her favorite..... a bubble book!

Last chance.

Well... we don't know what is going on with our case, but I will say this - IF we get another kick out from PGN, we're letting this go. I get a lot of flack for my feelings, but really, no one is walking this journey. No one is living this nightmare. So please keep your opinions to yourselves. I have done ALL that I can do for this child. At some point there has got to be an end. We have had 8 previos, spent 6 mos ko'd, missed all of her firsts, now missing her second Christmas, spent 10 months in PGN, hired help, gave it over to God, begged, pleaded, cried.... I'm so sad tonight. So sad. Just like every other night.
I'm awfully disappointed tonight. (WHEN am I not?) Anyway... it's Friday again. Friday, how I used to love you when I was a little girl- and how I loathe you as an adult. Another long, painful, weekend with no news on when our file might make it back into PGN. I should've known better then to think it would have actually gone in this week. What is most disappointing to me is the lack of communication and response to my e-mails. A 24-48 hour timeframe is certainly enough time to get answers to my questions. I need some wkend projects......

Adoptions & Rollercoasters

Many people say adoption is a rollercoaster ride. But I disagree. Personally, rollercoasters are fun, fast, exciting. Adoption is not. At least mine is not. You get off a rollercoaster and you are either 1) smiling ear to ear or 2) puking! I'd say, adoption is more like a ferris wheel. Very slow, sometimes up, and sometimes down. That is how my blog is. One extreme to another. A high only lasts so long, and then you sink back into the sadness of it all. I lay it all out there. I wear my emotions on my sleeves, because I'm not afraid to let everyone know that not every adoption is a story book dream come true. I used to dream about the moment Madeline was handed to me. The happiness I would feel. Now I wonder if there will even be happiness? I'd love to stand there and roll my eyes until they fall out of their sockets. Then again, I'm not 13 anymore and I don't think I could get away with it. Friends of mine that are home with their children are still suffering. Everyone told these women when you get home the sadness will go away. But it hasn't. Not for these families. The sadness is still there. When does it ever end?
289 days in PGN.

excuse my language but.....

let us the hell out!

It's ALWAYS something

Today I feel like pulling out my hair and screaming. Yesterday I got an extremely confusing e-mail about my case. So I went back to the e-mail I rec'd last week about the rectification. I must have been so thrilled that my attorney worked on the case that I skipped the word - MIGHT. Now it seems pretty clear that MIGHT is the equivelent of "not happenin'". So today I rec'd an e-mail I was not expecting. I admit, I'm pretty darn upset by it. Everyday that we don't get resubmitted is another reminder that we won't be celebrating Christmas (even IF it is in the Marriott in GC).
Oh and one last thing, someone should remind these people I'm pissed. Not mad. Not excited. I'm pissed.

One year ago.....

One year ago we met Madeline Eliana (then Kiara Ann) for the first time. It was so surreal seeing her for the first time. She was beautiful. Wearing a knitted pink hat, white PJ's with dark pink stripes, in a blanket. She was absolutely beautiful. The days went quick, too quick... and before we knew it, it was time to hand her back to her foster mother. I remember sobbing in the GC airport. Little did we know, the sadness was yet to come... that followed the days, weeks, and months following our trip...
We are praying that God will move our file through PGN quickly... and without any problems. Let her come home, please!

Life

Another entry tonight, unfortunately, this one is filled with sadness. As most know my mother had a lung transplant in July. She is doing wonderfully and has no signs of rejection. However, along her journey she met a very young man (30) who had a lung and liver transplant a few days after my mother. He and his wife had just brought home a baby girl from Taiwan in February. I think that is why I am so heartbroken over this... He has been flown to the hospital, is in the ICU on a respirator. Could you all say a prayer for this man, his young wife, and new baby girl? It is so overwhelming for me to think of this family. I know the joy Madeline has brought to us, and I can't imagine that being cut short. I'm so sad over this. Please keep them in your thoughts.

These twists and turns of fate .....

Today the hubby and I did some shopping for Miss M's room. I'm so giddy with excitement about actually starting her room. I've put this off for so long. I am going to start working on that this week. I also need to start working on "a look back... one year ago" video for Tuesday... and her adoption video needs mucho editing. At least I can keep busy and keep my mind OFF of PGN. Sr. Barrios, don't you want to let my little honey pot out of PGN this time 'round? We'll buy you something pretty!
Once I know we're back in PGN, I am going to steer clear from the boards, guatadopt, and BLOGGING. I need to focus on other things.... and pray a zillion times a day that we get O-U-T!

I'm very passionate about the country of Guatemala. I have a deep love for this country - I always will. Please take a moment and read this and consider sending a Tamale basket to a family that would otherwise not have a meal on Christmas.

This year we again would like to offer you the opportunity to sponsor one or more Guatemalan families with a CHRISTMAS TAMALE FOOD BASKET We have many families, mostly single, abandoned & widowed mothers, who simply cannot afford to provide the traditional Christmas celebration meal for their family.

A tamale is a traditional indigenous food consisting of steam-cooked corn meal dough with or without a filling. Tamales can be filled with meats and sliced chilies or any preparation according to taste. The tamale is generally wrapped in a corn husk or plantain leaves before cooking, and during Christmas holidays, tamales of rice flour are a special treat for Guatemalans. The preparation time of this type of tamale is long, due to the amount of time required to cook down and thicken the rice flour base.

One food basket costs US$30 and will provide a Christmas Tamale celebration meal for a hungry and needy family of 12 or more.

The food for the Christmas basket will include:
A bottle of oil and 15 lbs of rice to make the tamales
a loaf of bread with which they eat the tamales at midnight
5lbs of meat
1lb of coffee
a block of drinking chocolate (a traditional drink taken at midnight)
raisins for the tamales, grapes, tomatoes, apples and sugar
leaves to wrap the tamales, cloves, pepper, sesame and pumpkin seeds.
These are the requirements to make the midnight Christmas meal of Tamale.

The plastic basket that holds all the food will also have many uses in the home such stacking and washing dishes, holding food or going to the market.

We started this project last year because it was brought to my attention that two children that we sponsor to go to school had been very miserable. These two children from San Jorge had no food in the house on Christmas Eve, they were crying because they would not have the traditional Christmas tamales to eat at midnight along with the drinking chocolate. At midnight they went from house to house hoping someone would give them a tamale. It made me wonder how many other families could also not afford to celebrate Christmas, once we started looking into it, we realized there were a lot of families who would not be able to afford to buy the ingredients for their Christmas meal.

So this year once again we are hoping to give out as many baskets as we can.

Last year we were fortunate enough to buy, make up and distribute 215 baskets. We are happy to say that we already have 60 baskets sponsored for this year. However, we would like nothing more than to send out more baskets than in 2006.

If you would like to sponsor one or more baskets for Christmas 2007, please choose the amount and click the 'Donate' button here at the bottom of the page. This will take you to our on-line payment service which will process your credit or debit card quickly and securely. If you wish to dedicate your donation to someone, please email us on instructions@mayanfamilies.net, include your online transaction number and let us know the details of your donation. Alternatively, if you would like to send a check, please download and print this form. Once completed, please include this form with your check made payable to Mayan Families and mail to:

MAYAN FAMILIES - 2609 Hartford St. San Diego, CA. U.S.A. 92110-2315.

Already donated a basket or two?

If so, I thank you sincerely for your donation and if you would like, I would be very grateful if you decide to forward this email to any of your friends and family who may also be interested in providing a needy family in Guatemala with a great Christmas Gift.

Thank you so much for all your support. Everyone here at Mayan Families is grateful and proud to put your donation to effective use with our Christmas Tamale Basket program

Best wishes,

Sharon and the Team at Mayan Families

A race against time.

Here's the deal. Our 171H approval expires January 10th. When I was in PGN "last time" I was able to get through the first and second reviewer within 2 weeks. I'm told Barrios will take a week. If I am blessed enough to get through PGN that quickly, we could bring Madeline home before the January 10th deadline. Clearly, if it looks like that isn't possible I'll just update it, but I am praying we don't have to....I checked out recent Mazatenango timeframes.... from OUT to Embassy it was between 33-36 days for the month of October.
Please say a prayer that we can get this all worked out. I know what "they" are saying... and not to expect children to come home in January. But I'm choosing to believe this CAN be done! I'm certainly going to pray for it to be done.
